Finally J-Lo wasn’t nominated for Hustlers because that movie was too inappropriate to win an Oscar. It’s about strippers. She’s still a great singer and actress though. I’m glad that Laura Dern won! J-Lo should’ve won for Selena (1997 film) instead.

At least J-Lo wasn’t nominated for that very bad and inappropriate movie called “Hustlers”. I mean she still is a great singer and an actress.

I just finished watching Marriage Story and I still don't get how that performance was good enough to win an Oscar and BAFTA. One doesn't even have to watch movies of other nominees to know that this was not an award worthy performance but whatever. Congratulations to her.

Don't tell me it was because of that monologue. That scene was good because of the writing and direction rather than her dialogue delivery and acting.
But the juries have their own opinions and they know more than a layman like me, so, OK I guess…

I love how she mentioned her mother (Diane Ladd) winning the same award so many years ago.

Florence Pugh is my favourite actor right now, but Laura Dern killed it in Marriage Story and deserves all the accolades.

Career baftas/oscars are a thing. Get over it. While her performance In Marriage Story wasn’t extraordinary, it was solid and she was a scene stealer. She’s been in the industry forever and hasn’t won yet so I’m super glad she’s finally getting recognition (from people other than the HFPA)

I am sorry, I love Laura Dern. She is an amazing, extraordinary actress and she was brilliant in Marriage Story, but I hoped this year would belong to Florence Pugh, because she was THE BEST.
But, all said and done, I will be very happy if she wins the Oscar. I would be a fool to say that it's not long overdue.

Laura is a fantastic actress, but her role in Marriage Story is not worthy for all these awards and she will even get the Oscar, but her role in this movie was insignificant and not memorable.

    (December 17, 2020 - 10:02 am)

Laura Dern was alright. Marriage Story was a very plain movie.

    Big Boy

    (December 17, 2020 - 10:02 am)

Laura is fantastic What an amazing performance in Big Little Lies. But her role in MS was too short and insignificant for winning awards.

    (December 17, 2020 - 10:02 am)

Laura Dern is great in everything but isn't this type of role she excels in? She¨s been doing them for years. There is no difference from this character and renata in Big Little Lies. She can do these roles in her sleep, there is no challenge for her. Shouldn't it go to someone who has to challenge themselves?

why she was not that good in the movie

    Pink101

    (December 17, 2020 - 10:02 am)

Notice how Laura doesn’t kiss Adam Driver’s wife. Good for her! That lady didn’t even stand for Laura (the whole table did stand except for her) when she won at the golden globe awards. Rude

    HOPE FULL

    (December 17, 2020 - 10:02 am)

Why she's winning all the awards? , she didn't had much of a role to play in that film, i mean she was good but there was nothing extraordinary, Adam driver or scarlett or the film itself should be winning awards instead of her but i guess all academies are fucked up

    Florence saying “oh baby”😢

    (December 17, 2020 - 10:02 am)

I am not entirely sure I found her absolutely outstanding but yes, her performance was on point and made us admire (and at the same time 'hate') her bullying L.A. lawyer character. Plus, Dern's recognition in the industry is kinda overdue.

I like Laura Dern, and she did a good job (much like her Little Lies role) but I feel there were certainly better and more powerful performances in her category– I just don't understand why she keeps sweeping these shows 🤷‍♀️

She deserves it, she even made me cry with this speech. Oscars, next!

    (December 17, 2020 - 10:02 am)

Florence Pugh, Margot Robbie and Scarlet's JoJo Rabbit performance were all robbed. I JUST DON'T GET why Laura is winning all of these awards for Marriage Story when even her Little Women was better…

The fact that she worked with both Scarlett and Florence but they’re all nominated for different films

I still don't understand why Laura Dern is winning everything
Her performance was ok in Marriage Story, nothing memorable

    (December 17, 2020 - 10:02 am)

She was good, but just good. I don't think she deserves it more than Margot Robbie for Bombshell.

    (December 17, 2020 - 10:02 am)

What exactly Laura Dern did in the movie that calls for winning this awards. She is a good actress, but Adam and Scarlett were phenomenal. I don't get it.
