Have a question. Does Dreams Unlimited help get annual passes?

Very strange comparison – Disney’s response to a global pandemic they didn’t cause, in an effort to salvage Disney World for the future versus Sea World’s care of animals (or lack thereof). Also, I don’t see brand loyalty being an issue, as there is no other brand like Disney. I do agree, this is devastating news for cast members; no one wants to hear of people being without gainful employment and no one wants to take away from their contributions to the Magic. But I just don’t understand slamming Disney. If they did this pre-COVID, I get the outrage. I just think, spend efforts on empathizing and trying to help cast members rather than spending time disparaging Disney.

Great show guys thanks so much you can feel the love. Craig I agree with you the Contemporary need an update. I was excited to go and see it the first time a went to WDW and wow was I underwhelmed compared to the rest of the WDW resorts. we have stayed at Disneyland Hotel and that is amazing

What a great group. Craig and Ryno class act as usual. Love seeing Jackie again and Deni what a beautiful vintage pin. Have one similar from my grandmother. Not great news about the layoffs, but you presented it well. Keep us updated on the latest Disney info. Thanks!

This breaks my heart listening to this news! I had visited the WDW Resort twice (1999 and 2005) and Disneyland (2011) and my experiences were enriched by these cast members. I hope that these cast members land on their feet.

Really great episode! Great suggestions with re theming the Contemporary and I wish Disneyworld would have kept some houses like Disneyland Toon Town.

Another something special going on for Cast Members is a project that Here With The Ears is doing. Robert and Alyssa Simmons (Here With The Ears) for anyone who doesn't know, lived at the Disney World Resorts for all of 2019 and became very friendly with many of the cast members. They are doing a project called Cast Member Christmas. Basically they are asking for $5.00 donations to make gift bags for the cast members that they will give them on Christmas Day. Here is the link which better describes it in detail for anyone who may be interested…castmemberchristmas.com. It is also a raffle and donation project. Check it out! 🙂

Glad to hear the DIS and others are mobilizing to see what they can do to help. What about a Go Fund Me page or something similar? Would need a verification process to validate the employee situation.

I am totally NOT a political person, but the only way Disneyland & other California theme parks can reopen is if Californians vote out Gov Gavin Newson.

Well done Craig! And everyone. Some of us really understand and are thankful for how much work you you do Craig for all of us, as well as the rest of the team. Appreciate and are beyond thankful for all that you do to always share Disney Magic with us!

Disney World doesn't need the Mansion Holiday overlay , it needs the original Nightmare Before Christmas ride plan . There's a video detailing its development , scrapped for mony woes at international disney parks .

As an interesting aside, the Frozen Sing-Along in Hollywood Studios could effectively be classified a 'super spreader' event if you believe the new CDC guidelines on aerosolized transmission + 6 feet social distancing being insufficient due TO the aerosolized particles lingering in the air. And that's true even when wearing masks, by the way. It just goes to show that many people have a poor understanding and irrational fears surrounding the virus. We can't goto a restaurant with a friend and sit inside, but we'll go sing in an enclosed room with a bunch of strangers. SMH…

Its a very bad thing for Disney employees and I feel for them , not many Government employees are losing their Jobs .. In reality , get used to it . The Travel industry WORLDWIDE is screwed . There are far more Airline staff about to be laid off , Motels ,restaurant etc closing .Disneyland in California is suffering from Californian Government playing politics and keeping it closed .

Observation from 2008 (not necessarily Disney) : When hiring starts up again, new employees are not paid at the same rate and do not have the same benefits as pre-layoff employees did.

I hated hearing most of local social media telling their audience not to come, as they were out and enjoying the lesser crowds. It does suck for everyone this is impacting, but this shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. This pandemic has affected a lot of businesses around the country and World.

I felt safer eating at a Disney restaurant than I have in Pittsburgh. I'm gutted about the cast member layoffs, since I still have a bunch of friends who are still employees from when I worked for Disney. While it is awful, it also isn't sustainable to keep paying everyone who is not working. I think the CEOs could take more of a pay cut until everything fully reopens to help pay these salaries, but I can understand why this is happening.

Disneyland has Cars Land, Disney World's equivalent is Pandora. One of the best rides in the World, an immersive land, and great food.

You could definitely build a Carsland where Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy is. There's a huge patch of woods behind there.

I have a friend whom was an imagineer, structural engineer, laid off. She had worked for Disney for most of her career and was set to retire in a few years. Devastating news for sure. Her design work is all over the world at Disney parks.

I disagree with the loss of brand loyalty. We are in a recession. People are losing their jobs all over the world. When you have some resorts not opening for months or a year. When people still aren’t heading down there, it’s not a surprise. I will keep going so hopefully these wonderful people will get their jobs back. I follow 3 Disney cast members on instagram and all 3 have been let go. I feel for them because I feel like I know them.

This news really was so heartbreaking to hear. I personally am not directly effected bc I live in the Northeast. However as a huge Disney fan and someone who travels there yearly it breaks my heart for each and every cast member or imagineer. Those people bring myself and millions of ppl SO much joy and happiness, to hear that news was so sad. I do not understand why Disneyland cannot open with rules! Wear a mask or you cannot enter! Follow the same rules and regulations that WDW is doing. I mean come on, California has stores open, grocery stores, convenience stores, and many places that MULTIPLE people visit at the same time daily! So what is the difference?! Have a lower percentage of allowed guests and require temp checks and masks! Social didn’t an invite as well. It is just insane to me that these places employ SO many ppl and knowing how many are struggling from not working it’s just not cool. I wish their Governor would get it together. I am not a fan but that’s MY personal opinion. IF you care so much about your citizens then let them work! Those who are NOT comfortable with it for whatever reason could CHOOSE not to if that’s the case. But not even being given the option and now the layoffs had to happen…. it’s just awful! Smdh….. 💔

I love TNBC Holiday overlay but I have to admit, it does kinda overstay it’s welcome (4 months!) and I agree with Craig about just having it during the Christmas/Holiday season. Haunted Mansion should be left alone during Halloween Time because it obviously fits with the season. It’s always cool though to see the different gingerbread houses in the Ballroom every year…such a delight and it will be sorely missed this year. 😔
