Early in his career, Drake was the poster boy of honesty. He built a career on writing emotional, introspective music alongside his producer and engineer 40, who helped him carve a sound that was unique and transformative. But today it seems like the tables turned, and now Drake is biting whatever style is hot to stay on top. I can’t get down with his recent image because I feel like he’s trying to be something he’s not. Perhaps Aubrey Graham’s best acting days weren’t as wheelchair Jimmy on Degrassi but rather playing a hip-hop superstar named Drake.

I liked Drake the most when he was on the sidelines of Raptors games, because he showed authenticity. No biting just repping.

fewer people are dissatisfied with the current version of Drake than his day 1 fans. i think that trajectory was inevitable. Funny how i'm okay with Kanye's constant shifts but not Drake. maybe as Jake said Drake's transitions feel a lot less organic. but hey he's massive now credit due for that

He's been through 10 years more of life, had to compete with countless rappers and haters, and has traveled / collaborated with musicians and styles from around the world

I dont think there's anything even remotely wrong with the way Drake handles his career.
Sometimes, it just doesn't have to be that deep. "Pushing boundaries of artistic expression" and all that yada yada doesn't make a musician. Drake handles music like a job,a fun job,not like a public diary.

It works for him, and I personally don't see him "not being artistically authentic" as a problem, because he gets the job done. From my viewpoint, it just doesn't always have to be that deep. More or less shallow music, but thrived throughout decades of the ever changing hip hop genre, and you can always count on some drake in your playlist for a fun time.

I started watching some of your videos a couple months ago and have been waiting to see if you’d do one on Drake. I had a feeling you weren’t a fan but wasn’t totally sure until I saw this lol. This video definitely felt rushed in a lot of ways. Knowing there’s not a ton of interview clips to pull from makes it a bit more challenging but that’s where I would have liked to see a bit more storytelling in your narration. Dig deeper into him. It felt like because you don’t connect with him and obviously don’t like most of his music, you stuck to what all the critics say about him. It felt surface level. I recognize you tried to tell two sides of his success but I feel like a more experienced journalist/doc filmmaker would have made it more compelling by again, digging deeper. There wasn’t much research done, at least not as much as you’ve done on other artists. And that’s probably because you’re not a fan. Which is fine! Again I didn’t mind that. But I would have loved to see more on his talent, his collaborations with the world’s best artists. What do they think of Drake? I think there’s more story to tell. And perhaps you couldn’t get that info and just wanted to get this video out of your system. On one hand I can’t deny some criticisms. On the other, I think you missed the mark on who Drake really is.

rly dope video, i love that you went for doing this full time now. I also love that you say what you wanna here, this was a good view on drake that i see 100% the same. Just one little but imo still very important thing, if you say something like what you did about that biden trump thing (which i agree on) then it’ll be good to make a clear statement that it’s not meant to be an argument to vote for trump. People could get influenced in a way you (hopefully) didn’t wanted to, or use this for their next argument supporting trump. That’s it, thanks for reading my feedback, cya next vid 🙂

Also, I had no idea you still only have 122k subs, I have not doubt you’re going to have 500k, 1m, maybe even more subs by the end of 2021. Your videos are truly in line with some of the best produced content on YouTube. Just don’t pull a Drake haha 🤣
